Prize pack includes: an autographed copy of both books in The Sick Rose Vampires series so far, chibi Barnabas Collins print, and Barnabas Collins trinket box.
Saturday is your last chance to come out to one of my book-signings this year. The schedule for Comique Con sounds so awesome, it’s going to be difficult for me to stay behind my table. See the full schedule here.
I signed up for a half-table, so the items that will be on display for sale will be scaled back. After looking at photos of my table from Monroe Comic Con, I was surprised at how much stuff I had! The featured goodies I will have at Comique Con will be The Sick Rose Vampires books, Wonderful Drinking Game posters and starter kits, and the debut of my new limited edition “Girl Fight” print with Harley Quinn and Batgirl. And again, free #IndieBooksBeSeen catalogs and Harley/Joker coloring sheets!
I’m happy to remind you that a huge convention appearance is coming up this Saturday in Monroe, Michigan! There will be 200 tables of comics, art, toys, crafts, cosplay, celebrity guests, panels, and yours truly! I attended Monroe Comic Con last year as a cosplayer and it was great! It was my official first attempt at cosplaying, which makes it my one year anniversary of cosplaying. It feels much longer (especially since I’ve already placed 3rd as Lady Penguin at Redford Comic Con and judged two days of Taylor Town cosplay contests in my first year)!
This year at Monroe Comic Con, I will be cosplaying as a local artist and published author and illustrator of vampire books. 😉 I encourage you to attend the Alloy Ash cosplay panel. I consider her my cosplay fairy godmother. She got me into cosplay after I attended a panel of hers at Motor City Comic Con 2015. I got to met her and thank her for the inspiration at Monroe last year!
In addition to my COSPLAnniversary fast approaching, I must share that today is the two-year anniversary of my first published book, Blood & Alcohol! It is available in paperback from Amazon, Createspace, my Sick Shoppe, and I will have copies at Monroe Comic Con. If you buy my first and second book together, you get 10% off at the show! See you soon!

We are about a month out from the second ever Ypsilanti Comic Con! I attended the one in March and am happy to be back at the September 24th con as a vendor! This will be my second book-signing appearance since the release of my sequel to The Sick Rose Vampires: Skin of the Night!
Book bundles will be available if you are picking up both books in the series. There will be a discount if you purchase both books together, or bring in your first book to get it signed and get a discount on the second! I’m continuing the sale on trinket boxes at the show while supplies last.
I am also pleased to announce the Wonderful Drinking Game Starter Kit will be making it’s debut at Ypsilanti Comic Con! I have partnered with Custom Creations by Danielle, LLC and Phoenix Girl Creations to bring you everything you need to get started with the game. Just BYOB!
Please be sure to follow all of our pages if you are on facebook, and stay tuned for your chance to win your very own Wonderful Drinking Game Starter Kit!

If you missed “The Big Show” this past weekend at the Taylor Town Trade Center in Taylor, Michigan, you missed a lot of fun! I was not tabling at this two day event hosted by yourcomiccon.com’s John Kalel, but I made it out Saturday to cosplay Lady Penguin with some of my friends as Batman villains and compete in the cosplay contest. The Rogues Gallery ended up getting in on this awesome DC Universe group photo after the contest.
If you weren’t able to make Taylor Town Comic Con, John’s next show is Ypsilanti Comic Con on September 24! I will be back behind the vendor’s table selling and signing books and art. If you’ve been holding out on attending one of the yourcomiccon.com shows, now’s the time to join us. Tickets are only $3! This will be a smaller scale one-day show packed with comics, art, toys, and cosplay. There’s a reason why I still go to all of John’s shows even when I’m not tabling. It’s called FUN! See for yourself! RSVP on facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/events/258091981249189/
I’ve also just uploaded a new promo video for The Sick Rose Vampires. It follows the journey of Elend Arcana so far in the series. All music is written and performed by yours truly! I hope you like it!
I am writing to you today to ask a favor. The Sick Rose Vampires needs to be rated and reviewed on Amazon. I could brag about how fantastic the story is and post numerous pictures trying to convince strangers that my books are worth a read, but your recommendations will do more than I ever could alone. That’s why it so important to rate and review the books of your favorite (especially independent) authors. Since The Sick Rose Vampires is an ongoing series of books, it’s also important for me as a writer to get feedback on what you’re liking about the story so far. The fans will help shape what this series becomes.
If you already have seen a copy of my second book in the series, Skin of the Night, you’ll notice a few changes in the evolution of style that have already occurred since the publication of book one. Your feedback and influence has a lot to do with that. There are more illustrations, more actions shots, speech bubbles, and three dimensional coloring methods. I want this story to be more than a comic, short story, and paranormal romance combined. It want it to evolve into something that is uniquely The Sick Rose Vampires, where I continue to struggle to categorize it.
Book I: Blood & Alcohol ended with a major cliffhanger. I went a little easier on you in the second book with a somewhat milder ending. Would you prefer another cliffhanger for book three or the satisfaction of resolution? After reviewing the draft for book three yesterday, I could go either way right now. I have also settled on the title for Book III: The Heart is a Rebel. The drafts for books three and four are already written. These two books will take place in the current story line. From there, I will publish an anthology of books (one through four) and begin a spin off prequel series within The Sick Rose Vampires universe. I have big plans for this, and I need your help.
Please rate and/or review my books on Amazon. You do not need to have purchased the books there to rate them or write a review. If you haven’t purchased copies of the books yet, you may do so at Amazon. For autographed copies, please purchase them from my online store, Sick Shoppe. You can always look them up on Amazon to submit your ratings and reviews later.
The best thing you can do to support your favorite indie author other than buying and sharing our product, is to review and rate our work. I’ve had people that aren’t into vampire stories or comics tell me how much they love The Sick Rose Vampires. I want more of that going on. Let’s share the fun!
I do not have any book signings scheduled for this summer, but I will be back in the fall. I will be appearing for the first time as a vendor at Monroe Comic Con on October 1st. I also was accepted back to this years Comique Con on October 22nd. More information on these two events in upcoming posts.
Today is a good day! In addition to hearing the news that Barnes & Noble is going to begin carrying self-published books in their stores, Elsie Earl Studios has started an Indie Book Club! And none other than my Skin of the Night has been selected as the club’s next reading on July 19th!
Elsie Earl Studios of Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a multi-purpose creative utopia dreamed up and owned by Loretta Friend. I was happy in be in attendance at the grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremony held on April 30th. It is a place for the local community to gather together and explore different mediums of art, perhaps some they’ve never tried before. The studio provides space and time for arts & crafts, classes & workshops, as well as entertainment for all ages. The variety of activities include but are not limited to:
- Fairy Houses
- Laser-cut doll houses
- Senior Crafter’s Tea
- 3-D Painting (plaster figurines, trinket boxes, wall plaques. Same-day take-home).
- Laser cut bird houses and feeders
appreciation (abstract, Impressionism, watercolor, etc)
- Music appreciation (jazz, blues, Beatles, etc, with performances)
- Slide Show Storytime
- Human-size board games for parties and business team building
And now we may add to that list of fun an Indie Book Club! You may RSVP for Indie Book Club on facebook here!
Signed copies of Skin of the Night as well as my first book Blood & Alcohol are available for purchase at the studio at a discounted book club member rate offered nowhere else. You may also pick up a free copy of the 2016 #IndieBooksBeSeen catalog. This catalog will be used as a tool to choose future book club reading material as decided by the club members. Please note I will not be present at the July 19th meeting. I want people to feel free to discuss the book openly and develop their own impressions of the material. Due to my book being a 40 page graphic novella, the story will be read by group members at the meeting.
If you are an indie author, check to see if there is an indie book club in your area. You also may start your own. It’s a great way to promote your work and the work of fellow indie authors. We really do have so much to offer. If you are interested in having your book considered as a future selection for Elsie Earl Studio’s Indie Book Club, and are willing to provide a discount to the book club members as an encouragement and thank you for purchasing multiple copies of your book, please contact Loretta Friend directly with information about your books at: Loretta@ElsieEarlStudios.com, 734-646-6633
If you are an indie book reader, one of the best things you can do for an indie author is to help guide new fans to us by rating and reviewing our books on Amazon. You do not have to have purchased the books on Amazon. If you already read my books or are planning to, please rate and review them here: Book I: Blood & Alcohol & Book II: Skin of the Night
I really appreciate it!
