I’m happy to remind you that a huge convention appearance is coming up this Saturday in Monroe, Michigan! There will be 200 tables of comics, art, toys, crafts, cosplay, celebrity guests, panels, and yours truly! I attended Monroe Comic Con last year as a cosplayer and it was great! It was my official first attempt at cosplaying, which makes it my one year anniversary of cosplaying. It feels much longer (especially since I’ve already placed 3rd as Lady Penguin at Redford Comic Con¬†and judged two days of Taylor Town cosplay contests in my first year)!

This year at Monroe Comic Con, I will be cosplaying as a local artist and published author and illustrator of vampire books. ūüėČ I encourage you to attend the Alloy Ash cosplay panel. I consider her my cosplay fairy godmother. She got me into cosplay after I attended a panel of hers at Motor City Comic Con 2015. I got to met her and thank her for the inspiration at Monroe last year!

In addition to my COSPLAnniversary fast approaching, I must share that today is the two-year anniversary of my first published book, Blood & Alcohol! It is available in paperback from Amazon, Createspace, my Sick Shoppe, and I will have copies at Monroe Comic Con. If you buy my first and second book together, you get 10% off at the show! See you soon!

#IndiePrideDay 2016

I have been having a blast working with #IndieBooksBeSeen. It is a great network of self-published authors, and I’ve been having fun being a part of their catalog for 2016. I am so proud to be able to share this catalog at book-signings and provide it for free to my readers. It’s a beautiful catalog with a myriad of book selections.

#IndieBooksBeSeen catalog at Cosplay Con, Taylor, Michigan on June 4th

#IndieBooksBeSeen is a movement that comes with it’s very own holiday that I am pleased to be participating in this year. It’s a day for us indie authors to take over social media, brag about our work, and offer special deals to our readers. Last year #IndiePrideDay was a top trending topic on Twitter. Let’s do it again, shall we?

I’ve decided to do something really crazy for this special day. It’s something I’ve never done before and will only be available on July 1st. Well, here it is:

2016 #indiebooksbeseen Catalog

Indie authors hustle harder.

The market can be challenging for self-published authors. Self-promotion can be a full-time and awkward job. We don’t get the publicity¬†and backing¬†that a publishing house can provide.

Mark Shaw, author of “Keeper of the Wind”, started the #indiebooksbeseen movement on twitter a couple of years ago with the intention of getting indie writers and their overlooked talent the exposure they deserved across social media and beyond. It is a community for indie authors to support one another and promote our work¬†collectively. This year I contributed “Blood & Alcohol” to the 2016 catalog of books. This catalogs ship worldwide, as the #indiebooksbeseen movement and it’s contributors are an international collective of writers. The catalog offers book selections from all genres across the board, with something for all ages.

How can you get a copy of this awesome catalog? They will be available for FREE at all of my upcoming book signings for the rest of the year. Check the Events page for details. They are also included for FREE in ANY purchase you make from my webstore. Or you may contact me directly to request one. You might even spot¬†one at¬†a library or in waiting room if you’re local!

I discovered #indiebooksbeseen from Detroit based indie game developer, Gerald Moore, who is creating the fighting game “Hastings Paradise”. ¬†It’s a fighting-style game featuring jazz legends Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington. Yes, I was sold from the beginning! You can follow Moore’s project on twitter @HastingsHR¬†

I’m looking forward to doing more with #indiebooksbeseen, including their “Indie Pride Day” this summer!

Happy Fangsgiving 2014

I have so much to be thankful for this year.  Getting Blood & Alcohol published was a huge milestone for me and would not have been possible without the incredible support from family, friends, and fans over the past two years.  The following is a list of organizations, mentors, proofreaders, and editors that got me to my goal:

OpenOffice.org Writer

Paint.net

NaNoWriMo 2012

Camp Nanowrimo May and July 2013

Jill Blust

Anthony Drummond

Loretta Friend

Christopher Hart

Andy Lockwood

Ashley Lyon

Jamar McRae

Verlon Murray

And most especially my Mom

I also want to thank everyone who has bought my book, which has helped to support my cat Colby who was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease this summer.  I am so thankful that I get to wake up and see his sweet face looking back at me this morning.  It brings a smile to my face.

I am also thankful to my¬†fans from all over the country who volunteered to be models for my advertisement, wrote amazing reviews on amazon, and came¬†out to support me at my first book signing. ¬†I’m looking forward to seeing some of you Sunday at the X-trava Con comic book show and book signing!

I have had a bit of a stressful week, but the books have arrived for the show and I’m ready to have some fun! ¬†I hope everyone takes a moment to just breathe and find the things they are grateful for today and every day.

Happy Thanksgiving!
