Been working over Labor Day weekend on the book and getting products ready for the reopening of The Sick Shoppe. The online store will offer The Sick Rose Vampires books and merchandise as well as products featuring some of my fan art. Please let me know if you see anything you want to try before the store goes public, and I will give you 25% OFF ending September 10th (Thursday).
2014 was a great year for The Sick Rose Vampires. Book I: Blood & Alcohol was published in paperback and made available on Amazon.com where it received rave reviews!
It is currently on sale at amazon.com for 13% off and qualifies for their free shipping program!
I did two book signings at X-trava Con Comic Book & Toy Show for my local fans and made some new ones.
I donated copies of my book to libraries.
I volunteered at a local elementary school art class to share my passion for art and encourage youngsters. I showed them some of my kid friendly drawings!
Kids love superheros!
Taking a break from starting the illustrations for Book II, I did a lot of practice drawings and expanded my portfolio. I am looking to reopen my online store in 2015. It will carry some of my new designs as T-shirts. Stay tuned for available sizes and pricing!
Fear and Loathing in Hyrule!
And to think that all of this happened in the last few months of 2014! I have big plans for 2015! In addition to reopening the store, I will do the illustrations, edit, and publish Book II, and participate in Motor City Comic Con in May.
########## GIVEAWAY TIME! ##########
To celebrate a successful 2014, I would like to do another giveaway. For this one, all you have to do is bring me a new fan. This is another “Bite Your Friend” style contest:
2. You send me a new fan via any of the above social media. They “like” and/or “follow” me on any or all of the above social media sites and they tell me who sent them (your name).
3. Both you and your friend are entered to win an autographed copy of The Sick Rose Vampires: Blood & Alcohol!!!
4. Easy-peasy…but ask me if you have questions. I will pick the winners on January 1, 2015.
Let’s get me to 200 fans when I start drawing for Book II: Skin of the Night in 2015!
Happy New Year and Happy “Biting”!
One week away!
I will also be submitting a copy of Blood & Alcohol as a door prize. Raffle ticket included with admission! I would be happy to sign a copy of my book for you and a friend! It makes a great personalized gift! 🙂 What better place to hang out on a crazy shopping weekend. Stay away from the malls.
My month of “DrawMo” has turned into “DrawLess”. I’ve been busy promoting and getting things ready for my book signing and haven’t been drawing as much. The one drawing I did do this week I am quite proud of. I told one of the third grade students in the class I was volunteering for that I would draw my favorite, The Incredible Hulk. Not too bad for my first superhero.
Okay, okay…I’ve also been playing A LOT of Majora’s Mask this weekend. Because I am obsessed, I will show you again the Skull Kid I did earlier this month. First, you can see what it looked like before I colored it in.
See you next weekend!
Inktober has come to a close. NaNoWriMo week one is over without me. I’ve been involved in a self-imposed “DrawMo” instead. I haven’t made my goal of doing a drawing per day as I had intended, but I have done more drawing in a week since before my book wrapped. I haven’t gotten into doing any sketches for my next book yet. I have been using the time to practice using Christopher Hart’s book, Manga Mania: Occult and Horror and daily drawing assignments from @Sketch_Dailies on twitter. I would like to share with you my DrawMo drawings from this past week.
“Urban Vampire” from Manga Mania: Occult & Horror
“Glamour Vampire” from Manga Mania: Occult & Horror
Skull Kid from Majora’s Mask
I used a combination of markers and crayons, especially for the last one. I still can’t find my nice Prismacolor colored-pencils, or fancy expensive markers from college. As new art supplies are not in my budget right now, I’ve been working with what I have. I love to color and the crayons offer more color choices than the small set of markers I own and are good for blending.
Don’t forget three weeks from tomorrow is My Book Signing. I’m debating whether or not to have prints of some of my drawings for sale in addition to my book. I haven’t been too pleased with the quality of prints I’ve done in the past, so if you have any recommendations of a company to go through please let me know!
